My Story

Being an elementary computer and technology teacher I was constantly scouring the internet, teacher pay teachers, pintrest (all hail the pintrest gods!) and often came up completely EMPTY! There was no resources for computers and technology teachers. There were TONS of material on intergrating technology into the classroom but nothing for the class itself. Deciding to fight this injustice, the ELEMENTARY TECHIE blog was born!
My best friend is also a computer teacher and we would spend hours...days even discussing ideas, classroom decor, classroom management, student assessment and grade tracking. We had so many ideas, some that wouldn't work in our particular classroom setting, but that were still great ideas that SOMEONE could use, tweek etc. Between the two of us, we had a long list of procedures and lessons that worked great and a long list of lessons that tanked, didn't work or were otherwise tossed aside into the 'back to the drawing board' trash receptacle. Thankfully, there were more great lessons than lessons that didn't work out. I also realized we had two unqiue teaching styles, and unqiue classroom environments. She was a public school teacher who taught children in grades K-4. I was a private school teacher who taught children ages 3 to Grade 5. She made lessons for 5 age groups, I made lessons for 7. Each group has an entirely different curriculum. I find my curriulum is constantly changing and evolving with each new idea. Before entering the traditional realm of teaching, we both worked at a local karate studio for over 10 years. This is where our passion for all things teaching started. Needless to say, we had wide range of experience!
I hope you find some ideas to add to your own classroom, or if you can't use the whole idea or concept, you can take bits and pieces of them and make it your own.
