For Downloads, samples and the various pieces go to my Downloads and Templates Section :)

The purpose of the scavenger hunt is to

1) introduce QR Codes

2) Use technology to Read QR Codes

3) Follow Directions

4) Work as a Team

5) Use Critical Thinking Skills to Solve Puzzles

6) Follow Computer Based Instructions

7) Utilize the Camera Function

8) Practice Computer Science Vocabulary and Skills

9) HAVE FUN!

The first thing I did was make QR Codes for my clues. I did not want to have to remake my QR codes every time I did this lesson (or used it for a different grade level etc). So I made QR Codes that just stated a Clue Number. That number corresponds to an envelope I have in my hand. The clues do not go in order (what fun is that? and the kids won't bother reading the code if they know which one it is)

So I made plain Text QR Codes that say the Clue number. Here is an example. The kids only see the QR Code, the wording is for me to remember what the code means so I can put them together.

You can find the codes for "Clue Number ___" (1 to 10) on the downloads page.

Each clue is a puzzle they must solve. There are choices on the bottom. They choose an answer and scan the code.

If they choose the wrong answer, they are brought to this page where they must follow the directions to complete a random tasks before they can choose a different answer.

The main purpose of the tasks was to make the students choose carefully and not pick a QR code quickly or just scan all of them! The tasks are meant to be simple but take a minute or two of time. If they got the answer right, they would be taken to a page like this which will tell them the location of the next clue. The last clue takes them back to the Computer Lab.

Once they have gotten back to the computer lab there is one QR Code left to scan!

The students recieve a prize for completing the hunt before the class period ends. Once the QR codes are created, it is easy to make new puzzles that lead to a different order of locations. I can't wait for September so we can be QR MASTERS!
