One of the draw backs to interactive notebooks is the amount of scrap paper the students have. Those little tiny pieces that end up all over their desks and floors. Then each student making multiple trips to the garbage can/ recylcing bin to throw them away. I could see the choas now. Enter, the TRASH TUB.

The idea is a pretty basic concept. Each group gets a Trash Tub. As the students work they throw their scraps into the bucket. At the end of class have one child per group dump the bucket into the garbage/recycling bin.
The buckets I got from the Dollar Tree. I purchased four buckets (2 green and 2 blue) for my class. The labels I made on my computer. The total cost for this project was $4.00.
I wanted to make sure the bucket was large enough to hold multiple student's scraps but not SO big that it would take up lots of room.

Supplies:
Buckets
Glue
Scissors
Labels
Step One:
Cut the Labels

Step Two:
Add Glue

Step Three:
Adhere Label

Step Four:
Let Dry
Now You're Ready!

Plenty of room for more papers! The best part is it will contain the notebook scraps. Should a student accidently toss out an important piece, they can simple look in the bucket for it....Not through the gross garbage cans!
